We were asked to make raised vegetable boxes. These were made out of railway sleepers and were then filled with new top soil and compost.
This is the vegetable plot planted and growing a salad crop.
...and here we have the vegetable plot planted out with winter vegetables, leeks and potatoes.
Raised beds are a great way of growing a wide selection of plants , and are especially popular for growing vegetables and fruits . They are a great way of improving water drainage and can be used to introduce a completely different garden soil type to your garden . Raised beds are also a useful solution to garden for those who have restricted mobility , as they reduce the need to bend.
